Peggy Louise West

Ms. Peggy Louise West, age 79 of Macclenny, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2022. Born in Holmes Mill, Kentucky to the late Hubert and Nora Blair Witt, Ms. West moved her family to Baldwin in 1975. She worked at Everybody’s Restaurant from the late seventies into the early eighties before becoming an Independent Life Insurance agent. She returned to her home state of Kentucky and lived there for over twenty years before settling in this area to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Ms. West was an avid collector of antiques and had an eye for interior design. She enjoyed gardening and was known for her green thumb. She was also an excellent cook. She was a member of Raiford Road Church in Macclenny and a very active member of the Baker County Council on Aging. Ms. West will be remembered as a strong, loving woman with a wonderful sense of humor. She is survived by her son: Matt (Ann) Waits of Jacksonville; sisters: Sandra Combs of Stanford, Kentucky, and Gwen (Don) Short of Cincinnati, Ohio; brother: Alton (Barb) Witt of Holmes Mill, Kentucky; grandchildren: Daniel (Pamela) Bowers of Jacksonville, Rachel Bowers of Macclenny, Kelsey (Jonathan) Lawson and James Waits, all of St. George, Georgia, Chase Waits, Slade Waits, and Kage Waits all of Jacksonville; and great grandchildren: Daniel and Dalton Bowers and Sophia and Chloe Lawson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her children: Johnnie Lynn Bowers and Kevin Waits; husband: Keith West; and granddaughter: Gracie Waits. A celebration of her life will be held 2:30pm, Thursday, May 19, 2022 in the chapel at Warren Funeral Services of Baldwin with Reverend Eddie Griffis officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00pm the day of the service at the funeral home. Warren Funeral Services of Baldwin is honored to serve the West Family.
