Mr. Roby “Bobby” W. Smith, age 77 of Jacksonville, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2021. Mr. Smith was born in Callahan to the late Tom W. and Ruby T. Smith and attended school in Baldwin. He spent his early years working in the Winn Dixie Warehouse before becoming a truckdriver, a profession he spent the majority of his life at until the time of his retirement from Trucks, Inc. Mr. Smith was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Jacksonville and was a devoted family man. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling and was a member of the “Hi-Railers” league team. He also enjoyed coaching children’s and ladies’ softball teams in the area. He is survived by his wife of fifty seven years: Martha Smith; sons: Ronald (Mary Jane) Thompson of Maxville and Thomas Allan Smith of Jacksonville; daughter: Kimberly Franklin of Odum, Georgia; grandchildren: Charles Wright, Ronald Thompson III, Chastine Smith, and Amanda Thompson; great grandchildren: Ronald Thompson IV, Amelia Thompson, Riley Smith, and Teddy Thompson; sister: Betty Weaver of Jacksonville; brother: Dwight Smith of Jacksonville; and sister-in-law: Joan Smith of Jacksonville.
