Leonard Jackson Ellison

Mr. Leonard Jackson Ellison, age 81 of Jacksonville, entered into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, March 27, 2019.  Mr. Ellison spent many years as a residential and commercial roofer. He was an active, faithful member of Otis Road Church of God. He always arrived early to open the church and make sure it was inviting for the attendees. He was known to have a funny sense of humor and he never met a stranger. Mr. Ellison loved working in his yard and playing with his cats. He is survived by is wife of fifty nine years: Bonnie Faye Ellison; daughters: Annette (Eugene) Nolan of West Virginia, and Sonya (John) O’Kelley, Jo Anna Ellison, and Lenette Ellison all of Jacksonville; grandchildren: Laura Crews, Randall Crews, Thomas Crews, Sloan O’Kelley, and Miles O’Kelley; brother: Arthur Ellison of Jacksonville; sisters: Anna Lee Johns of Jacksonville and Gay Hart of Macclenny. Sixteen great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren, and numerous other family members also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Alfred and Mary Harris Ellison; four sisters and five brothers.  Funeral services will be held 2:00pm, Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Otis Road Church of God, Jacksonville, with Pastor Stephen Thomas officiating. Burial will follow the service at Sellers Cemetery, Halsema Road, Jacksonville.  The family will receive friends 6-8:00pm, Friday, March 29, 2019 in the chapel at the funeral home.
