Mr. John D. Sabiston, a twenty-five-year resident of Baldwin, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2022, at the age of 68. He was born in Bayshore, New York and was a United States Coast Guard Veteran. He was an engineer and had been employed by CSX Railroad for thirty-three years at the time of his retirement. Mr. Sabiston was an avid fisherman who especially enjoyed marlin fishing and participating in and winning kingfish tournaments. His love of the water prompted his fondness of cruising, especially to the Panama Canal. He was a dedicated Georgia Bulldog fan and family man. Mr. Sabiston dearly loved his wife of twenty-three years, Debbie, and was a loving “Pops” to his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife: Debbie; his children: Jessica (David) Caselli of Atlanta, Sarah Sabiston of Savannah, Brandon (Tiffany) Rizer of Jacksonville, Crystal Rizer of Baldwin, and John (Amber) Sabiston of Savannah; his father: John Sabiston of Fort Myers; his grandchildren: Evan and Grant Caselli of Atlanta, Hunter Rizer, Gatlin Whitelock, and Miley Mills of Baldwin, and Aubrey and Jess Sabiston of Savannah; his sisters: Julie (Bruce) Boshart of Jacksonville, Debbie (Steve) Olive and Gina Sabiston all of Fort Myers; his brothers: Robbie (Diana) Sabiston of Jacksonville Beach, David (Julie) Sabiston, Charles Sabiston, and Shane Sabiston all of Fort Myers; his five dachshund puppies and Pat “My Friend” Blount of Baldwin. Mr. Sabiston was preceded in death by his mother: Joan Zajic. A celebration of his life will be held 12:00pm, Saturday, November 12, 2022, in the chapel at Warren Funeral Services of Baldwin with Deacon Vernon Harris officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Following the service, Debbie will receive friends and family at her home at 225 Main Street South in Baldwin.
