Mr. Jesse Lee Tatum Jr., age 58 of Jacksonville, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2020. A Baker County native, he was a 1979 graduate of Baker County High School. He was a truck driver by trade but loved spending time in a Jon boat on the St. Mary’s River or riding his motorcycle. His family know him as a ‘renegade’; fearless and spontaneous. Mr. Tatum had a love for old westerns; watching John Wayne movies and reading Louis L’Amour novels. Kindhearted and generous, he had a love for people and enjoyed conversation. He was devoted to his wife, children, and grandchildren and was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan. He is survived by his wife: Debra Lynn Tatum; daughters: Stephanie (Walter) Crews of Ponte Vedra, Jessica Tatum of Macclenny and Lauren (Justin) Hayes of Kingsland, GA; sons: Tyler Champion of Jacksonville and Dylan Hurst-Tatum of Macclenny; step-son: Brandon (Melissa) Carter of Tennessee; sisters: Bebe (Joey) Thrift of Macclenny, Donna Courson and Nan Kirkland, both of Douglas, GA, and Beth (David) Paul of Virginia; brothers: Ricky (Teri) Stevens of High Point, NC, Robert Allen (Rhonda) Tatum of Sanderson, Terry (Kim) Tatum of Douglas, GA, and David Boyette of Baldwin; eleven grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
