Mr. Ian David Finchum, age 42 of Callahan, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2020. A lifelong resident of Callahan, he was a 1996 graduate of Baldwin High School. Ian was a caring, family-oriented man with a fantastic sense of humor. He loved people and never met a stranger. Ian enjoyed singing and entertaining at the Ramona Flea Market in Jacksonville, where he was well known for selling boiled peanuts at his family’s peanut stand. He loved attending the Strawberry Festival every year in Plant City. Some of his favorite things were the Florida Gators, shopping at the Orange Park Mall, enjoying meals with family, and tending the animals on the family farm. He is survived by his son: Corbin Finchum of Greer, SC; mother and stepfather: Lynda and Donnie Starling of Callahan; father and stepmother: John and Malinda Finchum, Jr. of Plant City; sisters: Amy (Nick) Shepherd of Middleburg and Ashley (James) Hobbs, Jr. of Callahan; nephew: Jayden Watson; nieces: Gracie and Sophie Hobbs; maternal grandmother: Senobia Jones of Orange Park; and numerous cousins and a multitude of friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather: Thomas Jones, and paternal grandparents: John and Nancy Finchum, Sr. A celebration of Ian’s life will be held 11:00am, Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Otis Road Church of God, Jacksonville with Pastor Stephen Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Sellers Cemetery, Jacksonville. Ian’s family will receive friends one hour prior to the celebration at the church.
