Mr. Durell R. “Bob” Crews, age 77 of Bryceville, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2019. A lifelong resident of Nassau County, Mr. Crews was born to the late Alan R. and Wilma Smith Crews. He was a devout christian and a charter member of Liberty Baptist Church in Callahan. Mr. Crews was in the logging business from a young age and owned D. R. Crews and Son Logging for over forty years. An avid golfer, he was said to have “put down the logs and picked up a club” upon retiring from the logging business. Mr. Crews enjoyed golfing with friends at Bent Creek Golf Course in Jacksonville, watching classic western movies, and woodworking, especially crafting picture frames. He will be remembered as a giving man and a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of fifty six years: Pat Crews; sons: Robert (Karen) Crews of Callahan and Ricky (Gloria) Crews of Bryceville; daughter: Robin (Kevin) Hampton of Yulee; brother: Jr. (Bea) Crews of Bryceville; sisters: Myrte Caldwell of Bryceville, Brenda Stalvey and Caron Sanders, both of Statenville, Georgia; twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11:00am, Monday, April 8, 2019 in the chapel of Prestwood Funeral Home with Reverend Adam Pierce officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park in Jacksonville. The family will receive friends 6-8pm, Sunday, April 7, 2019 at the funeral home.
