Obituary

Mr. Charles Edward “Scratching Charlie” Rhoden, age 68 of Maxville passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023. Mr. Rhoden worked in the steel industry as a crane operator and then as a billets operator until the time of his retirement from CMC Steel Florida in Baldwin. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed spending time outside in his yard and his garden. He is survived by his wife of forty-three years: Nancy Rhoden; mother: Elsie Rhoden of Maxville; daughters: Sara (Billy) Padgett of Brooker, Kristy (William) Benkart of Sumter, SC, and Lisa Medina of Vega Baja, Puerto Rico; grandchildren: Devon, Jared, Peyton, Kaiden, Sarah-Gayle, Aubree, Corbin, Colin, and Avery; siblings: Jerry Rhoden, Larry Rhoden, Beverly Shuman, and Jackie Green. A host of other family members also survive. He was preceded in death by his father: Floyd Rhoden, daughter: Renae McLaughlin, and sister: Donna Stafford. A celebration of his life will be held 1:00pm, Saturday, March 25, 2023 in the chapel of Warren Funeral Services of Baldwin with Marty Higdon and Larry Rhoden officiating. Warren Funeral Services of Baldwin is honored to serve the Rhoden family.
