Mrs. Areta Ruis Hensley, a seventy-year resident of Baldwin, passed away Monday, February 13, 2023, at the age of 89. Born in Foley, Florida to the late George W. and Myrtle Lee Bethea, she grew up in Callahan and was a 1951 graduate of Callahan High School. She was an active member of her church and a fine example of a disciple of Christ. She had a servant’s heart and always considered others before herself. Her love and devotion to her family and community was evident in that everyone affectionately knew her as “Mema”. (Stephanie) Ruis; and fourteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands: John W. “Jay” Ruis and Franklin Hensley, and brother: Billy Bethea. Funeral services will be held 11:00am, Friday, February 17, 2023 at the First Baptist Church of Baldwin with Pastor Chris Drum officiating.
