William "Bill" Finley, Sr

Funeral services for William "Bill" Edward Finley, Sr. (73) of Middleburg, Florida will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Long Branch Baptist Church with Bro. Larry Brugh, Jr. officiating. The interment will immediately follow in Long Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, January 28, 2011 in the chapel of Prestwood Funeral Home. Mr. Finley was born August 14, 1937 in Long Branch, New Jersey, son of the late Clyde Chester Finley and the former Virginia Bredon. He was an active member of Long Branch Baptist Church and sang with the choir for many years. As an avid sports fan, he loved the U.F. Gators and coached many years for the Paxon Improvement Association. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 26, 2011 after a long battle with cancer. In addition to his wife of 51 years, Mary Finley, he is survived by: two daughters, Renee (Donnie) Williams and Debbie (Dan) Tomkins-Rosamonda; two sons, Billy (Cindy) Finley, Jr. and Jeff Finley; mother, Virginia Gornto; two sisters, Jean Boggs and Etta Gornto; four brothers, Charles (Fran) Finley, Pat (Betty Jean) Finley, John McKendree and Ted Gornto, Jr.; numerous extended family and friends. Those serving as pallbearers include: Ronnie Smith, Donnie Smith, Butch Smith, Eddie Hall, Mike Hall and Keith Becton. Honorary pallbearers include his Sunday School Class of Long Branch Baptist Church.
