Funeral services for Thomas "Floyd" Johns, Sr. (82) of Jacksonville, Florida will be held 11 a.m., Friday, October 28, 2011 at the Otis Road Church of God with pastor Cynthia Mosley & pastor John Spratlin, Jr. officiating. The interment will immediately follow in Sellers Cemetery with military honors. Floyd was born on May 2, 1929 in Folkston, Georgia, son of the late Thomas Henry Johns and the former Pearl Mizell. He passed away on October 24, 2011 following a brief illness. Floyd will be greatly missed by his family, friends and neighbors who watched him tend his garden on a daily basis. He was a veteran of the U.S. ARMY and served his country during the Korean Conflict. His survivors include: son, Tommy (Rene`) Johns, Jr.; two daughters, Tami (Mike) Topham and Tina (Lamar) Watson; eight grandchildren, T.J., Miranda, Kayla, Kolbi, Julia, Justin, Harold and Chuck (Kendra); four great grandchildren; three sisters; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death and reunited in Heaven with his wife, Leona and his daughter, Teresa. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, October 27, 2011 in the chapel of Prestwood Funeral Home.
