FORD- Funeral services for Thomas (Tommy) Jack Ford (82) of Winter Haven, Florida will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2016 in the chapel of Prestwood Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Brown officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment with Military Honors provided by the United States Marines will immediately follow the service. Mr. Ford was born on October 6, 1933 in Bryceville, Florida, son of the late Thomas Taylor Ford and the former Helen Azalee Parker. He started first grade at Bryceville Elementary in 1938 and graduated Callahan High School in 1951. He attended South Georgia College for one year on a basketball scholarship. Tommy was baptized on July 16, 1947 at Brandy Branch. He was a lifetime member of the Bryceville Baptist Church. In 1953 he joined the United States Marine Corp and served in the Korean war as an aviator electrician. After being discharged in 1955 he started his career in the egg industry, moving to Winter Haven in 1964 working at Cypress Gardens Eggs. Tommy purchased and owned his own eggs farms for many years and began working with Cal-Maine Foods, Inc., as General Manager in 2006 until his retirement on July 1, 2016. He passed away on July 30, 2016 after an extended illness. In addition to his wife of 26 years, Lynda Harrison Ford, survivors include: sons, Thomas "Tommy" Royce Ford, Timothy "Timmy" Donald Ford, Torry Clifford Ford and Ricky James Burns; daughters, Marcia (Floyd) Crews Howell and Tammy (Ty) Burns Willis; seventeen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; many extended family, friends and co workers.
