Terje Nygaard, 59 of Hartford, Mi. died suddenly (Tuesday, March 6, 2012). Terje was born December 19, 1952 in Oslo, Norway. He immigrated with his parents and two of his siblings to Chicago area in 1967. Terje served in U.S. Army from 10/1971 thru 3/1974. Terje was a very active member in the Explores Club Post 2780, Division of Boy Scouts of America, Alsip, Il and took part in many group activities and trips during his teen and young adult years. Terje fell in love with southwest Michigan after visiting the area with his longtime friend, and eventually settled down in southwest Michigan. Terje's biggest passions was for fishing; (lake, river and ocean) when he had the opportunity. Terje was also "Mr. Mom" to his beloved daughter Hope-Marie Nygaard, providing that special care for her in the first two years of her life due to her being so extremely premature at birth and coming home with many special needs. Terje's other passion was for computers, he received his degree from the Chicago Computer College, in Computer Programming in 1984, Terje loved anything to do with computers, web design, repair, creating designs or learning about the newest computer technology and its function and capabilites. Terje was also very good at electrical wiring, having wired many yachts when he worked at Broward in Saugatuck, Mi.
Terje was preceded in death by his father Harald Nygaard in 1999, his mother Bergit Nygaard in 2010. Surviving are his partner in life Marcea Jackson, daughter Hope-Marie Nygaard, both of Harford, Mi., sister Marit(Richard) Peeters of Galena, Il and brothers; Finn(Mailiss)Hatlebakk of Ramstad, Norway and Jon(Kari)Nygaard of Oslo, Norway. Nieces and nephews Kate(Vidar)Munkli, Tore(Elisabeth)Hatlebakk, Berit Hatlebakk, Connie Nygaard and Thomas Nygaard, several aunts, uncles and cousins all of Norway. Terje is also survived by his many valued friends he made over the years across the U.S.
