Funeral services for Sylvia Alsip (89) of Bryceville, Florida will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday, December 16, 2013 in the chapel of Prestwood Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Ramondetta officiating. The interment will immediately follow in Jacksonville National Cemetery. Sylvia was born August 16, 1924 in Laurel Creek, Kentucky, daughter of the late John Day and the former Malvery Lumnsford. She passed away December 10, 2013 following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James Alsip. She is survived by her two daughters, Fay (Earl) Gilbert and Jean (Mike) Gordon; five grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM Saturday, December 14, 2013 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 12286 N. County Road 23A, Macclenny, FL 32063.
