Obituary

Sharon "Sherrie" Smith Ketchie, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on May 24, 1947, in Jacksonville, Sharon lived a life centered on family, love, and creating lasting memories with those she cherished most.

Sherrie was a proud and devoted mother to her daughter, Dawne (Chad) Harley, and her sons, Scott (Darla) Ketchie and Jamie (Amber) Ketchie. She was a loving grandmother to Brent (Heather) Woodard, Sara (Chad) Sodek, Jamie “Lil Jamie” (Adriana) Ketchie, Kaylee (Nathan) Hicks, Ashlyn (Wyatt) Clifton, Nick, Maegan, and Anthony Nelson.

She is also survived by her longtime partner, Jim Stratton, who shared many years of love, companionship, laughter, and cherished memories with her.

Her greatest pride and joy were her great-grandchildren, Ruben, Kayce, Sally, Addison, Ryleigh, Gracelyn, Penelope, Isaac, and Cohen. They brought immeasurable happiness to her life and kept a smile on her face. Sherrie treasured every moment spent with them and loved watching her family grow through the generations.

She was preceded in death by her beloved great-grandson, Conway Clifton; her parents, Monroe and Ellen Smith; and her brothers, Billy Smith and Wally Smith.

Sherrie leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever remember her kindness, warmth, and generous heart.

A creative and caring woman, Sherrie enjoyed making crafts and sharing her talents with those around her. More than anything, she loved being surrounded by family. Whether spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, or friends, she found joy in the simple moments and treasured every opportunity to make memories with those she loved.

Sherrie’s legacy is one of unconditional love, devotion to family, and a life well lived. Though her presence will be deeply missed, the love she shared and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
