Sam Gordon

Funeral services for Sam H. Gordon, Sr. (93) of Jacksonville, Florida will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the Baldwin United Methodist Church with pastor Daniel Search officiating. The interment will immediately follow in Riverside Memorial Park, Jacksonville, Florida. Mr. Gordon was born February 13, 1919 in Colquitt, Georgia, son of the late Murry V. Gordon and the former Nancy Elizabeth Irvin. He passed away on September 24, 2012 in Jacksonville, Florida following a lengthy illness. Sam was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He served in the U.S. NAVY during WWII. His employment included Independent Life Insurance Company and Sears & Roebuck Company, retiring after twenty three years of service. In addition to his wife of 62 years, Pansy Adkins Gordon, survivors include: three daughters, Delores (Brooks) Copps, Pamela Rand and Trish (Vic) MacDonald; son, Sam H. Gordon, Jr.; nine grandchildren, Laurie Copps, Holley (Keven) Priger, Heather Verrier, Laura (Nick) D'Andria, Piper Gordon, Stephanie (Daniel) McCollum, Victoria MacDonald, Patrick MacDonald and Mary MacDonald; six great grandchildren, Kaelin Priger, Emmaline Priger, Samuel Verrier, Charles Verrier, Seth D'Andria and Vittoria D'Andria; numerous extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, September 26, 2012 in the chapel of Prestwood Funeral Home.
