BLACK – Funeral Services for Paul Black (79) of Baldwin, FL will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 1, 2007 at the New St. Paul Baptist Church with Rev. Riley officiating. The interment will immediately follow in Piney Grove Cemetery, Baldwin, FL. The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M., Friday, November 30, 2007 in the chapel of Prestwood Funeral Home. Mr. Paul Black of Baldwin, Fl, was born January 15, 1928 in Liberty County, GA to the late Mr. Joseph and Ella Mae Black. In 1950 Mr. Black relocated to Baldwin, FL where he met and married the late Ms. Willie Mae Shannon. From this union nine children filled the Black household. In 1979 Mr. Black met Ms. Lula Idella Walker and they were joined in Holy Matrimony December 15, 1984 and from this union seven children completed the Black household.
Mr. Black began his career with Seaboard Coastline and retired with CSX Railroad after completing forty seven years of dedicated service. Mr. Black was a loyal husband and devoted father and grandfather. Mr. Black was a respected man by his community and well known for his caring heart and generosity to anyone in need.
Early Sunday morning November 25, 2007 Mr. Paul Black was called home to join his father as his work in this world was done. Mr. Black was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters, one son, one grandson, one granddaughter and one great grandson. Mr. Black is survived by wife Lula I. Black, Sons; Ernest Pender (Earlene), Jesse Pender, Carl Pender (Rosalyn), Donnell Black (Leola), Connell Black (Nancy), Michael Dubois (Revondolyn), Anthony Walker (Damara), and Robert Dyer. Daughters; Joann Postell (Jacob), Deborah Black, Felicia Levins (Mack), Ursula Kirnes (Wayne), Yvette Arline, LaRonda Dyer (Dean), Selma Black, and Dionne Dyer. Mother-in-law; Inez Dubois. Sister; Anna Black, Brothers-in-law; Joseph Shannon (Bernadette), Robert Holland, Erasmus Dubois (Dorothy), Aaron Dubois (Catherine). Sisters-in-law; Eunice Gunter, Edna Brown, Oriole Brown (Freddie), Debra Powell (David), Elizabeth Coaston (Curtis). Cousins; Marie Black and Willie Lee Mallard, and he leaves forty-two grandchildren, forty-four great grandchildren, a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends to cherish his wonderful memories.
Devoted family and friends; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Austin, Mr. Lumark Gaskin, Mr. J.R. Smith, Mr. Gregory Holland, Mr. Almon Gunter, Jr., Mrs. LaRonda Dyer and Mrs. Darneisha Jones and her staff at SouthPoint Health Services, and the Northeast Florida Community Hospices' Rose Team.
