Funeral services for Maydell Wilkerson (81) of Fernandina Beach, Florida will be held 2 p.m., Monday, May 24, 2010 in the chapel of Prestwood Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Drury officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to service. A private interment will be held at a later date in the Jacksonville National Cemetery. Maydell Wilkerson was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 20, 2010, following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Wilkerson was born on December 16, 1928 in Georgia and was a long time resident of Callahan, Florida. She has resided at Quality Health Care of Fernandina Beach, Florida since 2006. Mrs. Wilkerson is survived by her husband of 64 years, Frank Wilkerson, Sr.; daughter, Frances Ethridge; son, Frank (Betty Jo) Wilkerson, Jr.; four grandchildren, Michelle, Michael (Christina), Virginia and Wilton; seven great grandchildren, Mandee, Kalon, Mariah, Logan, Ciara, Casey and Brittany; two great-great grandchildren, Katie, her name sake Adalee Maydell; three sisters, Mary, Linda and Geneva; brother-in-law, Ferrell; five brothers, Gene, Raymond, Tommy, Robert and Charles; multitude of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Wilkerson is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Frances Jernigan, son-in-law, Sonny Ethridge, grandson, Billy Ethridge, sister, Bonnie, two brothers, Jody and James, two brother-in-laws, Henry and Jack and two sister-in-laws, Martha and Myrtle. Mrs. Wilkerson's pallbearers are Michael Ethridge, Kalon Ethridge, Ronnie Hayes, Brent Armstrong, David Martin, Jack Crews, Larry Galloway and Butler Priester. Honorary pallbearers include, Camden Knowles and Jamie Marion.
