Martha Virginia "Jimmie" Benzing

Ms. Martha Virginia "Jimmie" Benzing, age 88 of Jacksonville, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2020. She was born in North Carolina to the late Mallie K. and Euna J. Aldridge Putnam. Ms. Benzing was a very sentimental woman who loved the simple things in life. She was an outdoors enthusiast and loved gardening and animals and spending time in nature. Having so many good memories of going fishing with her father, she enjoyed taking her grandchildren fishing as often as possible. She loved traveling, cooking, sewing and quilting, gambling, and sharing laughter with friends and family. She is survived by her children: Laura Benzing Farrell (Gary) Murfitt, Nancy Benzing (Kevin) Brown, Richard John (Bobbie) Benzing II, all of Jacksonville, and Marc Alan Benzing of Colorado; grandchildren: Johnny Ray Pharr, Michelle Farrell Normandin, James Michael Bosurgi, and Julia Benzing; great grandchildren: Nicole and Sierra Pharr, Riley Jane Farrell, Ellie Anne Normandin, Aundria and Lily Minton, and Ella Lu Grace Ashby; great-great grandson: Calem Sanchez; brother: George (Nancy) Putnam of Maryland and sisters: Sally Haywood of Maryland and Charlotte (John) Williams of Ohio. Numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and love of her life: Richard John Benzing, son: Vincent Benzing, granddaughter: Shannon Minton, brothers: Wayne Putnam, Frank Putnam, Sherman Putnam and sisters: Edna Freeman and Tessie Buchanan. Funeral services will be held 1:00pm, Friday, August 7, 2020 in the chapel of Warren Funeral Services of Baldwin. Interment will follow at Brandy Branch Cemetery in Bryceville.
