Marjorie L. (Raike) Cross

Marjorie Raike Cross, 88, passed away suddenly on February 24, 2019, in Fernandina Beach FL. Marjorie was born to Charles Chester Raike and Leonore Burgroff Raike on August 5, 1930 in Shrewsbury, West Virginia. She married John Charles Cross on July 23, 1947 and they traveled extensively while John was in the U. S. Navy, settling in Jacksonville FL upon his retirement. As did her husband, Marjorie had a passion for travel and for the mountains, living the last 35 years in Blairsville GA. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 12, 2018, and her daughter, Nikki Lynn Crawford (Michael) on April 12, 2017, of Jacksonville FL. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Leigh Townsend (Thomas) of Fernandina Beach FL, Deborah Layne Ellison (James) of Jacksonville FL and Rebecca Louise Miles of Jacksonville FL, eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren who loved her dearly. Marjorie will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Funeral services and interment will be held 10:00am, Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, with Jim Ellison officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm, Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the funeral home.
