John Dewey Price, 97, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on January 4, 2026. He was affectionately known as “Pappy” by his family, as well as by many others who loved him and considered him their adopted grandfather.
John was born on December 28, 1928, in Hazlehurst, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Jackson Price and Effie Eleanor Foxworth Price. He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Ruby Bell Price; his daughter, Rose Kelly (Ronnie); his granddaughter, Renee Kelly Hebb (Mark); his grandson, Ryan Kelly; and his beautiful great-granddaughters, Parklyn, Penelope, and Paxley.
John was a butcher by trade and a hard worker who dedicated over 40 years to his profession. He retired from Pantry Pride in 1986. He also enjoyed photography and faithfully captured special occasions and cherished family memories through his extensive collection of photographs.
He loved to travel and take long road trips along quiet country roads, especially through his beloved hometown of Palatka, Florida, where he spent his childhood.
John had an unwavering faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He loved to play his guitar and sing hymns of the faith and was known for giving Bibles to those he loved. His greatest desire was for everyone to love Jesus and to love others.
