Funeral services for John William Highsmith (73) of Jacksonville, Florida will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, December 26, 2015 in the chapel of Prestwood Funeral Home with pastor Bob Hoover officiating. The interment will immediately follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Mr. Highsmith was born on July 10, 1942 in Homeland, Georgia, son of the late Everett T. Highsmith and the former Lillie Knowles. He passed away on December 18, 2015 following a brief illness. Mr. Highsmith worked for Cardinal Unijax in Jacksonville, Florida and retired after 40+ years of faithful service to the company. In addition to his wife of 44 years, Gloria Highsmith, he is survived by: two daughters, Paula (Richard) Graf and Carrie (Robert) Proper; son, John "Jack" (Wendy) Highsmith; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; numerous extended family and friends.
