Funeral Services for James "Jim" Robert Taylor (68) of Jacksonville, Florida will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Old Plank Road Baptist Church (8964 Old Plank Road) with Pastor Larry McGinley and Dr. Berney Armstrong officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Cedar Creek Cemetery, Sanderson, Florida. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday, February 23, 2009 at the church. Mr. Taylor was born November 9, 1940 in Tampa, Florida, son of LeRoy Taylor and the former Madge Pedrick and passed away February 20, 2009 in his home following a lengthy illness. He attended Baldwin High School and graduated from Florida Technical College in 1968 then serving in the U.S. NAVY during the Vietnam Conflict. Mr. Taylor served as the N.E. Florida Commander of National Association of Atomic Veterans. He retired in 2003 as a Computer Specialist from the Defense Information Systems Agency at NAS JAX. In addition to his wife of 45 years, Betty Jo Taylor, he is survived by: Three Daughters, Laura Lawrence, Bobbi Jo Denmark (Tod) and Lancy Hinson (Allan); Six Grandchildren, Travis, Jessi, Taylor, Kaitlynn, Brady and Anderson; Honorary Grandchild, Colleen; Brother, Richard (Sybil) Taylor; Sister, Thera DeGal. Serving as pallbearers: Richard Combs, Edward Murphy, Carl Wells, Jeff Taylor, Justyn Burkhart, Randy Williams, Tony Batchelor and Mike Nixon.
