Funeral services for James Sonny McAbee (74) of Middleburg, Florida will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2009 in Oak Grove Cemetery (37 East Ohio Ave., MacClenny, Florida) with Brother Jed Carnes officiating. Mr. McAbee was born August 22, 1934 in Canton, North Carolina, son of the late Luther Roman McAbee and the former Jessie Medford. He passed away June 19, 2009 in Jacksonville, Florida following a lengthy illness. Mr. McAbee was survived by: Three Daughters, Kathy (Steve) Porter, Robin (Tony) Rider and Jamie (Ray) Adkins; Son, Ricky (Michelle) McAbee; Nine Grandsons, Aubrey Porter, Michael Porter, David Porter, Joseph McAbee, Justin Porter, Daniel Burnett, James Sanford, Joshua Burnett and Jeremy Burnett; Two Granddaughters, Patricia Kenny and Jennifer Mullinax; Ten Great Grandchildren; Sister, Florina Dean. He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn McAbee and his grandson, Jerimiah Christopher McAbee. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday, June 22, 2009 in the chapel of Prestwood Funeral Home.
