DEMPSEY- Graveside services for James A. Dempsey (79) of Jacksonville, Florida will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Jacksonville National Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the United States Army. Mr. Dempsey was born on January 1, 1937 in Old Town, Florida, son of the late Staten Dempsey and the former Claudia Putnal. He passed away on July 9, 2016 after an extended illness. In addition to his wife of 55 years, Glynda Dempsey, he is survived by: son, Gregory(Dana) Dempsey; daughter, Claudia(David) Scott; grandchildren, Lauren R. Dempsey, G Staten Dempsey, Brian Daniel Sheerin and Christi Lynn Sheerin; sister, Virginia Driggers; brother, Craige Dempsey; many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Carl Dempsey and Phillip Dempsey; sister, Faye Miller.
