Funeral Services for Irving Godwin (83) of Jacksonville, FL will be held 2:00 P.M. CST, Sunday, January 14, 2007 at the First Baptist Church of Free Port (430 Kylea Laird Drive, Free Port, FL) with Rev. Joel Glenn, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Liberty, FL officiating. Interment will follow in Black Oak Cemetery; Eglin AFB Reservation, Niceville, FL with military honors. Reception will immediately follow the interment for family and friends at the Free Port Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. EST, Friday, January 12, 2007 at White House Baptist Church (24 North Celery Ave, Jacksonville, FL) and one hour prior to funeral service on Sunday. Mr. Godwin was born March 13, 1923 in Portland, FL, the son of the late Thomas Jackson Godwin and the former Clara Leviney Suggs. He passed away January 10, 2007 in Jacksonville, FL following a lengthy illness. Tech SGT Godwin was a Veteran of WWII serving in the European and Middle Eastern Theater. Decorations and Citations Include: The Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, EAMETO Medal, and the Victory Medal. His memberships include: Free Port Baptist Church (Free Port, FL), Herman Lodge # 108 F&AM (Free Port, FL), York Rite Masonic Bodies (Crestview, FL), Hadji Temple (Pensacola, FL), Free Port Chapter #281 O.E.S. (Free Port, FL), and the American Legion. Survivors Include: Wife of 56 Years, Clara Mae Silcox Godwin; Son, Richard Irving Godwin; Three Daughters, Marsha Ann Godwin, Sharon Gail (Jim) Godwin Armstrong, and Cynthia Susan Godwin; Two Brothers, Floyd Earl (Daphne) Godwin, and Benny (Maggie) Godwin; Sister, Mavis Inez (Gilbert) Roth; Brother-In-Law, Clavin Coye (Jewell) Silcox; Sister-In-Law, Carlie Silcox (Leonard) Raulerson; Two Grandchildren, Matt Allen Armstrong, and Emily Alise Armstrong. Predeceased by: Two Brothers, Edward Burruss (Evelyn) Godwin and Donald Lee (Catherine) Godwin; Sister, Irene (Henry) Paulk. Serving as Pallbearers: Bobby Linton, Billy Linton, Chris Lovejoy, James Byrd, Frank Nick, and Danny Wilson. Honorary Pallbearers include all Masonic Members.
