Howard Greene, Sr

Funeral Services for Howard Johnnie Greene, Sr. (74) of Jacksonville, Florida will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 17, 2009 at Old Plank Road Baptist Church (8964 Old Plank Road) with Pastor Larry McGinley officiating. Mr. Greene was born on August 16, 1934 in Jacksonville, Florida, son of the late Lewis Greene and the former Bessie North Greene. He passed away April 14, 2009 following a lengthy illness. Following a tour in the U.S. ARMY, Mr. Greene went to work with the Florida Department of Transportation until retiring after 42 years of service as the EEO Director for District 2. He was a founding member of the Normandy Athletic Association and was a City of Jacksonville Champion Baseball Coach four times. His favorite hobbies included: Football (Avid Florida Gator Fan); Baseball (Chicago Cubs & New York Yankee Fan); Hunting; Fishing; Traveling & Gardening. In addition to his Wife of 54 years, Helen Bernardo Greene, survivors include: Three Sons, Eddie (Michele) Greene, Johnnie (Lisa) Greene and Mark Rogers; Two Daughters, Diane (Gary) Earrey and Lori (Clay) Levins; Brother, Ronald (Carolyn) Greene; Two Sisters, Joyce McCall and Loyce Harrell; Nine Grandchildren, Christina, Joshua, Melissa, Jessica, Tyler, Morgan, Clayton, Cayla and Lacey; Six Great-Grandchildren, Ciera, Casey, Logan, Garrett, Ansley and Kendall.
