Funeral services for Ellen Hoppers Smith (85) of Macclenny, Florida will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at the 103rd Street Baptist Church with Pastor Kenneth Strickland officiating. The interment will immediately follow in Smith Family Cemetery, Jacksonville, Florida. Ellen was born on July 15, 1925 in Jacksonville, Florida, daughter of the late Elmer Hoppers and the former Nellie Mae Mosely. She passed away on September 25, 2010 in Macclenny, Florida following a lengthy illness. She married Monroe Smith on January 28, 1942 and together had three children, Sherrie, William and Wallace. Ellen and her husband helped in the building of 103rd Street Baptist Church. They owned and operated Circle II Mobile Home Court. She was preceded in death by her husband Monroe; twin sister, Helen; son, William; and grandson, Justin. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She is survived by: two children, Sherrie (Jim) Ketchie and Wallace (Kathleen) Smith; brother, Harold Anderson; 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Those serving as pallbearers include: Troy Smith, Jamie Ketchie, Jimmy Stratton, Rick Waychoff, Richard Smith and Korey Smith. Honorary pallbearers include: Kenneth Pickett, Collin Waychoff and Earl Graves. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Arthritis Foundation in her honor.
