In Loving Memory of Darryl “Big D” Crowley
Darryl Irvin “Big D” Crowley, a devoted son, father, grandfather, and passionate Florida Gators fan, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, in Jacksonville, Florida, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born May 19, 1965 in Donalsonville, Ga Darryl was the beloved son of David Crowley Jr and Dolores McElvy Crowley. From an early age, he embraced life with energy and joy, developing a love for riding motorcycles and playing sports—especially basketball, where he left a lasting impression during his years at Baldwin Junior-Senior High School. His infectious laughter and bright smile filled the halls, creating memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Darryl began his education at Mamie Agnes Jones Elementary School and later graduated from Baldwin Junior-Senior High School. He carried his strong work ethic into adulthood, holding positions at places such as Bubba’s Truck Wash and the Publix Warehouse, where he worked until retiring early due to health reasons. He was also a faithful member of St. Paul Baptist Church.
Known affectionately as “Big D,” Darryl had a deep love for his family, friends, and his favorite teams, especially the Florida Gators and Trinity High School athletics. Above all, he cherished the time spent with those closest to him, always sharing laughter, wisdom, and unwavering love.
He leaves to cherish his memory nine loving children, Danielle Crowley, Travis Young, Kiara Morales Royer, Channing Crowley, Donovon Crowley, Kyiah Crowley, Mykell Williams, Adon Crowley, and Edwinn Brown; His siblings, Rudolph McElvy, David Crowley Jr 2, Don Juan Crowley, LaGertrude Crowley, and Marcus Crowley, Tanginina Boykins, Belinda Morris, April Dextor, Erick Green; nine grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever hold on to the special bond they shared with him.
After a long and courageous battle with health challenges, Darryl’s journey came to a peaceful end. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit, love, and legacy will continue to live on through all who knew and loved him.
He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
Psalm 116:7-9,15 Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you. For you, Lord, have delivered me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before the Lord in the land of the living…Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants.
