Calvin Coye Silcox (87) of Jacksonville, Florida passed peacefully in hospice on January 31, 2015. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on February 28, 1927. Calvin was a faithful Christian man, dedicating his life to his church and family. He worked at Benton Brothers Film Express, driving a truck at the age of 16 and retired as Vice-President, 40 years later. He was a founding member of Whitehouse Baptist Church, serving from 12 years of age until he physically was unable, attending for a total of 75 years. He served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, head deacon, and treasurer. Calvin served others through giving organizations, The Sertoma Club and The Northside Business Leaders. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jewel Silcox; six sons, Colin (Elaine) Silcox, Cary (Brenda) Silcox, Calvin Silcox, Eddie Petty, Randy (Theresa) Petty and Tim (Susan) Petty; three daughters, Carolyn (Aaron) Raulerson, Cathy (Roger) Worten and Judy O'Connor; twenty three grandchildren; thirty five great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Clara Godwin and Carlie Raulerson; numerous extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm in the chapel of Prestwood Funeral Home on Monday, February 2, 2015. The funeral services will be held 11 am, Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Whitehouse Baptist Church. The interment will immediately follow in Riverside Memorial park with, Wayne, Owen, Shane, Jamie, Kyle and Tom serving as pallbearers.
