Funeral services for Benedia Henley Bennett (85) of Jacksonville, Florida will be held 1 p.m., Monday, December 13, 2010 at Macedonia Baptist Church (8018 Lenox Ave.) with Rev. David Hill and Rev. Jay Stucky officiating. The interment will immediately follow in Riverside Memorial Park. Mrs. Bennett was born in Jasper, Florida on October 15, 1925, daughter of the late Thomas Henley and the former Lula McCoy. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 8, 2010. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and taught Sunday School. She founded Bennett's Hardware in 1957 and joined Ace Hardware Corp. in 1988. Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Royce Bennett Sr. Her survivors include: seven sons, Landon (Trudy), Keith (Helen), Gary (Marilyn), Dennis (Sylvia), Sherwin (Debbie), Phillip (Kathleen) and Glenn (Alison) Bennett; sixteen grandchildren, Amy, Jeffrey, John, Matt, Gary Jr., Michael, Derike, Chris, Dale, Adam, Chelsey, Kevin, Scott, Hayley, Davis and Noah; niece, Denyse Wamsley; eleven great-grandchildren and numerous friends. Those serving as pallbearers include: Jeffrey, John, Gary Jr., Derike, Adam, Scott and Davis Bennett. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m., on Sunday, December 12, 2010 in the chapel of Prestwood Funeral Home.
