Funeral services for CMSGT Alton Guy Ambrose, Sr. USAF RET (80) of Baldwin, Florida will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Baldwin with Rev. Chris Drum and Rev. Leroy Lewis officiating. The interment will immediately follow in Brandy Branch Cemetery with full military honors. "Andy" was born December 10, 1928, son of the late Jacob Guy Ambrose and the former Bertha Lee Howell in Athena, Florida. He passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2009 following a lengthy illness. Mr. Ambrose served in the United States Air Force during WWII, Korean Conflict and Vietnam until retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant (E-9) after 20 years of dedicated service. He is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Flo Ella Ambrose. His survivors include: Son, Guy (Carol) Ambrose, Jr.; Grandson, David Ambrose; Daughter, Rhonda (David) Ryan; Granddaughter, Jennifer (Tim) Gesell; Great Grandson, Jacob Gesell; Two Sisters, Lilly Harrington and Sally (Brad) Manning; Close Friend, Jackie Johns; Numerous Nieces and Nephews. Those serving as pallbearers include: Carl Masters, Duffy Trent, John Johns, Ernie Crawford, Murrell Mixson and Matthew Plemmons. Honorary pallbearers include: Gene Hodges, David Ryan, R. Vance Prestwood, Jr., Brad Manning and Marvin Braddock. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday, June 29, 2009, in the chapel of Prestwood Funeral Home. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Gaines Martin, Dr. Jeffrey Bubis and Matthew Plemmons for their compassion and service.
