Mr. Leslie “Les” A. Mosley, age 87 of Hilliard, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2020, after a brief illness. He was born in Baldwin, the youngest son of the late Lester and Eva Mosley. His father having passed away just prior to his birth and growing up during the depression, Mr. Mosley was a very responsible, hardworking young man who took care of his mother and sister. He worked at the Baldwin Drug Store when he wasn’t playing basketball for the Baldwin Indians. Upon graduation from Baldwin High School, he worked for C.I. Capps in downtown Jacksonville and for the railroad, eventually retiring from CSX, Waycross yard. He also served as a board member of the Coastline Credit Union. After retiring, he and Mrs. Dot moved to Hilliard, Florida where they became members of River Road Baptist Church. Mr. Mosley enjoyed camping and traveling with his family and friends. He held a special love of the Tennessee mountains. He loved country and bluegrass music, cars, motorcycles, and planes. He was fond of dogs and horses and talked of hunting rabbits and squirrels. He took pride in helping his extended family and friends and his nieces and nephews thought the world of him. He is survived by his son: James L. (Sarah) Mosley, Sr.; daughter: Lynn (Keith) Letellier; sister: Lillie Mae (Ronnie) Pittman; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, older sister, three brothers, and the love of his life, his wife of fifty eight years, Dorothy Mae Thornton Mosley of Macclenny. Funeral services will be held 11:00am, Saturday, January 11, 2020 at River Road Baptist Church with Pastor Benjie Loyd officiating. Interment will follow at River Road Baptist Church Cemetery.
